“This piece was primarily a trust exercise, in which she told viewers she would not move for six hours no matter what they did to her.  She placed 72 objects one could use in pleasing or destructive ways, ranging from flowers and a feather boa to a knife and a loaded pistol, on a table near her and invited the viewers to use them on her however they wanted.
Initially, Abramović said, viewers were peaceful and timid, but it escalated to violence quickly.  “The experience I learned was that … if you leave decision to the public, you can be killed… I felt really violated: they cut my clothes, stuck rose thorns in my stomach, one person aimed the gun at my head, and another took it away. It created an aggressive atmosphere. After exactly 6 hours, as planned, I stood up and started walking toward the public. Everyone ran away, escaping an actual confrontation.”
This piece revealed something terrible about humanity, similar to what Philip Zimbardo’s Stanford Prison Experiment or Stanley Milgram’s Obedience Experiment, both of which also proved how readily people will harm one another under unusual circumstances.”
This performance showed just how easy it is to dehumanize a person who doesn’t fight back, and is particularly powerful because it defies what we think we know about ourselves. I’m certain the no one reading this believes the people around him/her capable of doing such things to another human being, but this performance proves otherwise.”

this is why performance art is important

So every single person who told me ‘ignore them they’ll go away’ and ‘you can’t let them know they bothered you’ and ‘They’ll stop if they don’t see you react’ and all that bull shit, my entire school career, I want you to look good and hard at this.
I want you to think about what you said.
What you keep saying.
What you are telling your children.
You are making them powerless.

I’m trying to prove a point to my mom.

Well fucking DUH.

I had a girl friend in HS that was continuously sexually harassing all the guys.

Which was funny cuz I wanted her to do the…

It’s happened to me on several occasions before I was (semi-)open about my homosexuality.

“The day in the life of a self-righteous tumblr user”

have you ever wanted to suplex a person thru the internet

i want the 30 seconds i spent looking at this garbage back

skrillex no

im specialer than u because i was miserable in high school

You know, I wasn’t going to go on a rant about these shitty comments right here. I kept on scrolling for a bit. But I came back and here I am.

Because holy shit, I -did not- expect to see such negative comments on what I saw to be a pretty-much-factual and nice comic overall. It’s as if the people commenting didn’t actually take the time to read the whole thing, and if they did, got all butthurt because they think it’s telling them they’re not special enough, or someshit. I don’t even.

Maybe my own perspective is a little off, but from where I stand, if anything people making negative comments at this looks -much- more “self-righteous”.

It’s not about being “specialer”. It’s about how some people have and have had things a lot easier than others, and that some consideration in regards to that would be nice once in a while. The character that barged in in the first place even directly states in part four that essentially, they’re sorry for the emotional outburst and it’s not their place to tell them those things, just that a little consideration once in a while would be nice. That’s all.

And frankly, I agree with that message.

Hey, remember that Kevin Rudolph song “Let It Rock” that Lil Wayne ruined? I think Natasha Bedingfield fixed it.

Would someone out there on the tumbles please help me find these dudes? Song is from a promo album circa 1997 and I can’t, for the life of me, find any evidence they ever existed online. Found a MySpace page what was similar, but after listening to the tracks on that page it sounded nothing alike.

Every time we witness an injustice and do not act, we train our character to be passive in its presence and thereby eventually lose all ability to defend ourselves and those we love.

The Real Problem with Metacritic - SESSLER’S …SOMETHING (by Rev3Games)

Apr 6

Bullying is NOT what you think it is.

zhaarteth:

What is stated: It’s all in the way you look at it. Be positive! Even in negative situations! If you’re upset, it’s your own fault - no matter what it is!

How I interpret its message (objectively): Realists are just pessimists hiding behind a façade of scepticism. Optimism is the only healthy outlook.

Its actual implications by people who claim to live by the concept: Emotionless sadomasochism is good and independent self-defence only brings negativity. Conflict is bad, always avoid it - even if you caused it. Be irresponsible because the magic forces of the universe will correct everything if you leave it all alone. Let your friends help you deny any responsibility for the people you hurt, because consensus is always what makes reality. Anyone who has a problem with you is just a “drama queen” so just ignore them and their negativity. And most importantly, never admit to the truth as outlined in posts like this one.

Guys I really really seriously recommend you follow zhaarteth. Seriously. Fucking do it.

And now for something not serious at all…

zhaarteth:

…though I do seem to have a penchant for appearing serious regardless.

Anyways, there’s a chain-post crawling around in email, the Book of Faces, and some other socio-net-o-spheres. Because bored, typing response.

Also, this is direct copypasta from one of them, in quotes. So if some of it seems out of character, that’s because it is.

Due to its length, it comes after the break.
